BUXTON fundraisers have collected £1,200 to fund the purchase of essential survival kits for use in disaster zones.
It comes after The Inner Wheel Club of Buxton’s Overseas Committee held two charity fund-raisers for Disaster Aid UK & Ireland – a member of Disaster Aid International, which is supported by Rotary Clubs around the world.
A Mulled Wine & Mince Pie Evening in December raised £420 and a Quiz Night and Supper in March raised £640. Buxton Rotary generously donated another £140.
This enabled the Inner Wheel to fund three Family Survival Kits, costing £400 each, which provide emergency relief in the event of a disaster.
The kits typically comprise: family size high-sided tents to house ten; blankets; mosquito nets: cooking equipment; tools, and other survival items.
The Inner Wheel thank everyone who supported their events, including Morrison’s and Waitrose who provided prizes.
