A campaign to clamp down on nuisance driving problems has been extended.
Operation Jericho has seen officers from Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team speaking to drivers about their behaviour and how it affects the community. Issues that have been raised by members of the public include groups of drivers gathering near homes and leaving their engines running, which causes a noise nuisance, and others speeding on roads around the town.
The operation started in April and has centred on police educating drivers about their responsibilities. Officers have also carried out speed checks and extra patrols. Enforcement throughout the campaign has included one vehicle seizure, a number of warnings given to drivers, and one car was taken off the road.
