VILLAGE life past and present was the theme of a Festival of Flowers to celebrate 150 years of Christ Church in Burbage.

Fifteen beautiful floral displays went on show to the public last week, arranged by members of the Christ Church Ladies Flower Group and their friends, and the U3A Ladies Flower Arranging Club.

The main church isle was also decorated to resemble running water, representing the origin of the name Burbage, which means ‘stream’.

Church member Margaret Foster said: “The church looked absolutely magnificent. Lots of people have supported the festival and helped make it such a success.”

The Festival of Flowers was the first to be held at Christ Church for 11 years.
