Christmas charity event

STAFF AT Derbyshire Dales District Council stepped back in time for a Christmas event that raised £382 for charity.

Employees transformed the payroll office at Matlock Town Hall into a 1970s grotto complete with outfits, classic album covers, photos of staff from that decade and even a Space Hopper.

Staff donated a total of 72 raffle prizes and the money raised from their efforts will be split between charities including the Mercian Regiment and Bluebell Wood Children hospice.

Payroll manager Susan Devaney, who helped organise the event and has organised similar Christmas collections for the past six years, said: “We always try to dream up a theme that creates interest among staff and it’s really encouraging that once again this year virtually everyone at the District Council seems to have contributed in some way.”
