Farm animals will be joining in the fun at this year’s summer fete in Chinley on Saturday, as the festivities will include a petting zoo for children.
The annual event, organised by Chinley, Buxworth and Brownside Community Association, will take place from 11am to 4pm on the playing fields, on Lower Lane.
Volunteer Hayley Lever said: “It’s looking to be a lovely sunny day and the adorable animals will be a treat for the whole family. The annual tug-of-war will delight the children and test the adults, who can compete for the Mrs Henshall Cup. The event offers something for everyone.”
There will also be the usual host of cake stalls, live music, a beer tent, demonstrations by local groups and clubs and a barbecue.
Chairman of the association Mark Connolly said: “We would like to express our thanks for the all-year-round support from all the local groups and people who support it, in so many ways.
“The fete is a great way of bringing the community together, to celebrate a year of great fun, activity and community spirit. Entry is free so bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a great afternoon out.”
If you’d like to run a stall, which cost £10 or are free for information stands, contact Sally Newport on 01663 751327.
