Despite a wet start, the weather turned up trumps for revellers at Chinley and Buxworth Community Association Fete this week – who enjoyed full sunshine vibes for the cracking event.

On Sunday, the annual event went ahead on the playing fields – offering those in attendance the chance to coconut shy, hoop-la, jump on the bouncy castle, compete in the tug of war, and much more.

A ring of straw bales provided the setting for a group of exotic dancers and a circus troupe.

The entertainers had held a workshop for budding would be circus performers before they performed.

A montage photograph of the 75 entries in the new scarecrow competition was on display.

There was also a further 30 scarecrows erected after the deadline for judging had taken place.

The overall winner was the ‘sewing crew’ on Buxton Road, who had also made all the bunting that was generously flying through the
village.

Revellers also enjoyed traditional games, a welly wang, barbecue , slack rope walking, plate spinning, and much more.

Youngsters pulled out all the stops for the childrens’ fancy dress competition.
