A CHAPEL-EN-LE-Frith florist has struck gold with a display designed to light up the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee dinner table.
Heather Rogers, of Links Road, beat off tough competition from florists across the country to win a Gold Medal at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show with her floral chandelier display designed to be hung during the Jubilee dinner.
She said: “I am absolutely delighted, I just can’t believe it.”
Heather, 55, has been a florist since leaving school at the age of 16.
She qualified for the competition through the British Florist Association regional heats.
Her first brief was to create an arrangement for the centre of a table at a formal dinner for UK competitors at the Olympic Games which impressed the judges so much she won through to Chelsea where she scooped Gold in the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year category and was just one point away from being named Best in Show.
