Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Town End Friday Club, a social and luncheon club for the over 70s, has received £1,550 from The Co-operative’s Community Fund.

The money will help cover the annual rental and insurance costs of the group’s base at Town End Methodist Church.

Roy Danson from the Club said: “Our group provides a vital service for the older people living in this community. Our gatherings are a regular social event that people look forward to, and we always provide members with a warm and nutritious meal.

“Thanks to this generous grant from The Co-operative we can continue to run the group with confidence, knowing that our largest yearly outgoings have been covered.”

The Community Fund is created by members of The Co-operative Group who elect to donate all, or part of their dividend payments directly to the scheme which are used to support local community groups.

Community Fund application forms are available online at www.co-operative.coop/communityfund or by phoning 0161 827 5879.
