Chatsworth has been given a prestigious honour by consumer organisation, Which?
Survey results, taken from a pool of over 4,000 people, were published in late August and rated the Derbyshire landmark as Britain’s favourite stately home.
Chatsworth also took fourth position amongst historic attractions, losing out only to Stirling Castle, the Houses of Parliament and Gloucester Cathedral.
The estate is home to the Duke of Devonshire, who, speaking about the award, said: “It’s fantastic news for everybody here. So much effort and hard work goes into making Chatsworth as wonderful as it is and we really appreciate the recognition from our visitors.”
The house has more than 30 rooms open to the public and contains a vast collection of paintings and sculptures.
