A Hope Valley woman will be taking on a marathon task in order to support a lifesaving charity.

Kristine Leaper, 34, from Bradwell, will be running in the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of St John Ambulance, and hopes anyone who won a place in the ballot, without choosing a cause to support, will now join her in fundraising for charity.

She said: “I have been running for a number of years and now feel ready for the challenge of a full marathon – and what better challenge than the London Marathon.

“As a St John Ambulance volunteer, I regularly provide first aid at public events in and around the Hope Valley and have been a first aider at many fell racing and marathon events.

“I can’t think of a better charity to fundraise for at the marathon because, without the St John Ambulance first aiders lining the route, thousands of runners would be forced to pull out of the event because of injury or illness.”

Kristine, who is a shop worker at Bradwell Fisheries, will be one of 200 runners raising funds for the organisation.
