Dedicated volunteers from Chapel-en-le-Frith and the surrounding district have been honoured for their years of service to the area’s Poppy Appeal.

Certificates, badges and medals were awarded to poppy sellers by the Chapel-en-le-Frith Branch of the Royal British Legion, during a presentation evening at The Packhorse last Thursday.

Among the award recipients was branch president Derek Eley and Dilys Belfield, who were honoured for 45 and 35 years respectively, while Edmund Bradbury and Cllr Nigel Bradbury both received badges for 15 years’ service.

Presenting the awards was the Royal British Legion’s county chairman Bernard Page MBE, from Derby, who congratulated the recipients and thanked them for their valuable service to the Poppy Appeal.

The evening also included a raffle in aid of branch funds, a buffet supper and musical entertainment by the Dinky Doos.
