Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival is back on Saturday, bringing with it all the usual fun and festivities such as the dog show, the parade and the crowning of the queen.
The day kicks of at 12.30pm with the procession of floats, walkers, horses and carts, which starts outside St Margaret’s Primary School, in Gamesley, continues along Glossop Road and arrives at Charlesworth Park, known as the Rec, at 1pm.
The coronation of the 2013 Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival queen takes place at 2pm, followed by the senior fell race at 2.30pm and the junior race at 3.30pm.
The prize giving for the races will be at 4.30pm.
The Rec will be packed with activities and stalls including performances from Arnfield Brass Band, a steel band and Dynamite Dance, as well as bouncy castles and fairground rides, corn dolly making, a circus skills workshop, donkeys and ponies to pet and an owl demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Charlesworth dog show will take place in the George and Dragon car park at 2pm.
On Sunday, there will be a second procession, involving the newly crowned queen, starting at 10am from St John’s Church gate, on Marple Road.
