Candidate’s debate call

AN independent candidate for the role of Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is calling for events to be held across the county to ensure all residents can be involved.

Derby businessman Rod Hutton, who has 19 years experience of supervisory operational policing as a voluntary officer, believes his political opponents should stop squabbling and get debating the issues that matter.

He said: “The people of Derbyshire deserve to hear, contribute to, and debate what type of police service and community safety initiatives the PCC has in store for them and therefore we need to organise a series of public hustings so that this can be put before the public so that they are informed as to what the choices are.”

The election to decide on a PCC will be on November 15.
