A 21-year-old Buxton woman has told the Advertiser how the earthquake which struck Italy on Sunday shook her room at the University of Padua where she is studying.

Tasha Bisknell, daughter of High Peak Council Leader Caitlin Bisknell, was fast asleep about 50 miles from the epicentre of the earthquake.

“I just woke up and everything was shaking for a few minutes, and then it stopped. I heard voices in the corridor, everyone in our residence got up and went downstairs, and then after a while we went back to bed,” said Tasha, a former Fairfield Endowed School pupil.
