BUXTON is to host the 2012 launch of the Poppy Appeal in Derbyshire.
Jayne Taylor, the mother of Royal Marine Scott Taylor who was killed while serving in Afghanistan, will be joined by High Peak Mayor Pat Jenner at the official launch event in the Pavilion Gardens on Thursday October 25, at 11am.
The poppy shop will be situated at Lloyds TSB in Spring Gardens from Monday November 5 to Saturday November 10, during normal banking hours.
Allan Smith, Poppy Appeal Organiser, said: “Our thanks to Lloyds for allowing the branch to use their premises.”
All wreaths, with the exception of those which are delivered, may be purchased and collected from there.
The Buxton branch of the Royal British Legion, which last year raised over £17,000, is still appealing for volunteer collectors over the age of 16 to sell poppies on Saturday, November 3 and Saturday, November 10.
As well as street collections, there will be poppy sellers in Morrisons supermarket and Spring Gardens Centre.
