Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams were called out to again on Wednesday afternoon, to save the second climber injured while bouldering in Stanage in a week.

The joint snatch squad assisted East Midlands Ambulance Service by rescuing a man from Sheffield, who had fallen three to four metres at Stanage Plantation, less than 100 metres from the incident last Wednesday.

A Buxton spokesman said the climber sustained a suspected broken ankle and was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics, with pain relief and splinting.

The casualty was then placed onto a stretcher and carried by rescue team personnel to the road side, transferred to the waiting ambulance and taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
