Buxton team called out to second boulder rescue

Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams were called out to again on Wednesday afternoon, to save the second climber injured while bouldering in Stanage in a week.

The joint snatch squad assisted East Midlands Ambulance Service by rescuing a man from Sheffield, who had fallen three to four metres at Stanage Plantation, less than 100 metres from the incident last Wednesday.

A Buxton spokesman said the climber sustained a suspected broken ankle and was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics, with pain relief and splinting.

The casualty was then placed onto a stretcher and carried by rescue team personnel to the road side, transferred to the waiting ambulance and taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
