LOUISE POTTER, chair of the Friends of Buxton Festival, has been appointed as one of six new Deputy Lieutenants for Derbyshire.

The role will see Mrs Potter assist Lord-Lieutenant Willie Tucker or deputise for him when required.

Deputy Lieutenants are the “eyes and ears” of the Lord-Lieutenant throughout the county and keep him informed of matters of interest in their area of residence, in the sphere of their work within the County or in any other areas where they have an involvement.

The appointment of the Deputy Lord-Lieutenants, which has been approved by Her Majesty The Queen, takes effect from June 1.

Deputy Lieutenants are allowed to use the letters “DL” after their name and, like the Lord-Lieutenant, serve until their 75th birthday.
