'Buxton on the Move' follows on from the 2020 Vision conference which was held last year.

Getting “Buxton on the Move” is the name - and aim - of a conference in March being organised by Buxton Town Team.

Speakers on transport topics ranging from parking and traffic management to tourism and disability access are being invited to the event on March 9 at the University of Derby’s Buxton campus.

The all-day conference is a follow-up to the successful 2020 Vision Conference last year, which was run by the Town Team in conjunction with Vision Buxton.

“The 2020 conference threw up some good ideas about how people want to see Buxton develop by the year 2020,” said team member John Phillips.

“Transport and traffic were two issues identified as of major importance, especially with the opportunities and challenges which the restoration of The Crescent and other developments in the town will bring.”

Short presentations in the morning by experts and interested parties will be followed up in the afternoon in workshops where delegates will split into groups to develop ideas and suggestions for solutions to possible problem areas to stimulate positive public debate.

In the evening, there will be a speaker on transport as part of the University’s Public Lecture Series. More details of the conference will be announced soon.
