A fell running exhibition opens on Friday with an evening of song, music and painting demonstrations at the Green Man Gallery, Buxton from 7pm.

The event will be supported by Boff Whaley, guitarist of Chumbawumba and keen fell runner, who be talking about his new book Run Wild.

While artist Vincent Alexander Booth, of Cheshire Hill Runners, will be demonstrating his oil painting techniques live to the music of The Bob Graham Round.

Tickets, which are available from the High Street gallery or by calling 01298 77401, cost £6 and proceeds go to Buxton Mountain Rescue.

The exhibition, on display until November 25, also features Rod Holt, Geoff Read and Fiona Armer.

The fell running theme was dreamt up by curator Claire Parker while out on a 17 mile endurance race in the Lake District.

As she ran and listened, she said she was struck but the stories and culture around fell running, legendary races that hold stories of bravery, solidarity and endurance.
