The new goods-in extension will provide an extra 660 square metres of floorspace.

Permission has also been granted for a new gatehouse on the six-acre site, the relocation and renewal of existing sprinkler tanks including a new pump house, and increased parking provision.

A council planning officer’s report states: “In conjunction with the “hi bay” warehouse extension approved in May 2016, the proposals will allow the business to expand, which could not happen without the new facilities.

“The construction of the proposed development would therefore consolidate the existing business, safeguard existing employment and create new employment opportunities.

“The application indicates that the proposals would result in potential increased employment opportunities at the site, including ten new full-time positions and two part-time positions.

“The proposals are therefore considered to be economically sustainable and the principle of development is acceptable.”
