Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams’ joint Snatch Squad was called out on Thursday morning, May 25, to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service with a casualty who had collapsed.

Rescue personnel met at the famous Giant’s Hole cave, near to Eldon Hill, where a 25-year-old woman had collapsed.

The woman from London was taking part in a week-long outdoor activity programme which provided many new and challenging activities.

The group was walking towards Giant’s Hole to go caving when the casualty became unwell and collapsed and suffered suspected injuries to her back and shoulder.

She was treated on site by a paramedic and personnel team prior to being moved on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.

The woman was taken to hospital for further treatment.
