HIGH Peak MP Andrew Bingham has met with the Tourism Minister John Penrose MP to discuss the Government’s support for tourism businesses in his constituency.
The Government has introduced measures to boost the hospitality and tourism industries and the Minister explained how these would impact on jobs in the borough.
Mr Bingham said: “I’m glad that the Government is prioritising the tourism industry as it plays such a vital part in our local economy. 7.8 per cent of local residents are employed in this sector so it was good to have the opportunity to make their case directly to the Minister.
“The plans to capitalise on the Games next year should generate 60,000 jobs across the country. I want to make sure that as many of these as possible come to the High Peak.”
