Todd engineers apprentice victory
BRADWELL-BASED company Newburgh Engineering has found a new star after Jonathan Todd won their 2012 Apprentice of the Year award.
Jonathan, who turns 21 this month, hails from Bamford, Hope Valley, and is a former pupil of Lady Manners School in Bakewell.
Having cultivated an early interest in design and manufacturing, Jonathan is now halfway through his four-year apprenticeship with the company, after spending the first year at Brinsworth Training Academy, Rotherham.
Jonathan stood out, winning eight out of 12 monthly awards, achieving the single highest score and showing his excellence in a range of categories, from work ethic to regular attendance and organisation.
Coupled with his local success, Jonathan has also been granted a place on the shortlist for a National Apprentice of the Year award.
Apprentice Training Manager Andy Millward, himself a former apprentice, said: “I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how Jon’s career unfolds. He’s a real star of the future and we’re very proud of him. Our investment is rewarded by seeing them develop into highly skilled engineers.”
