A LEADING Buxton businessman has been elected onto the board of directors of Best Western Great Britain.
John Millican, Managing Partner of the Best Western Lee Wood Hotel, joins seven other member hoteliers who will together represent the group’s 278 hotels in determining the strategic direction of Interchange and Consort Limited, the parent company of Best Western Hotels and Beacon Purchasing.
The last time John was on the board of directors he held the prestigious titles of Chairman and President overseeing the merger of Best Western and Consort Hotels in 1999. He also acted as Chief Executive before the merger took place.
He said: “I am delighted that my peers have elected me to represent them and excited to be back on the board.
“This year is a challenging and exciting year for hospitality with the Olympics, Jubilee and the current economic climate. I look forward to working with central office to develop the company and build on last year’s success.”
