Local businesses which show the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark (EQM) have received a boost with VisitEngland, the country’s national tourist board, reaffirming its support for the scheme.
In doing so, VisitEngland has made the EQM one of only four sustainable tourism schemes in the country to be recognised for its contribution to the environment and local economy.
To show the EQM, businesses must show a willingness to help care for the Peak District environment and heritage and prioritise the wellbeing of their local communities.
Jason Freezer, sustainability lead for VisitEngland, said: “The scheme and the team involved are to be commended for their approaches that help ensure businesses in the Peak District are working to keep the area a beautiful and special place to visit and enjoy.”
