THE natural beauty of Tideswell Moor has been successfully restored in a £122,000 project by Electricity North West.
The company has permanently removed 17 electricity poles and more than 1.3km of overhead lines which have been a firm fixture in the area for almost 50 years.
Working alongside the Peak District National Park, the firm has successfully replaced the power lines with 1.6km of underground cable to improve views.
The cable will also be less vulnerable to damage and extreme weather conditions.
Ian Greenwood, programme delivery manager, from Electricity North West, said: “Not only will it greatly improve the visual appearance of Tideswell Moor, but by removing 1.3km of overhead lines and placing it underground means we are also providing the local area with a more reliable and efficient supply of electricity for many years to come.”
