Latest jobs figures for the High Peak have been welcomed by MP Andrew Bingham.
Data from the Office for National Statistics shows that the number of unemployed Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) claimants in the borough fell by over a third (down by 39 per cent) compared with August last year, and the number of youth JSA claimants aged 18-24 fell by nearly half (down by 46 per cent) compared with the same time last year.
Mr Bingham said: “It’s great news to see unemployment and youth unemployment continuing to fall.
“These figures show that overall, our welfare reforms and long-term economic plan are getting Britain working. However, I will continue to fight for more local jobs and employment.”
