THE consistently high standards achieved at the Old Packhorse in Chapel-en-le-Frith have been recognised by two industry awards.
Nick and Sharon Ratcliffe, who have been licensees at the pub since March 2009 were delighted to be awarded the Robinsons Gold Cellar Award. So high were the marks achieved during unannounced inspections that the pub was then put forward for and was successful in attaining a coveted Cask Marque - judged by independent assessors.
An assessor carried out rigorous checks all cask ales on sale for temperature, appearance, aroma and taste, before the award can be made.
Nick, who received top marks for all his ales said: “It is nice to get some recognition for the hard work myself and my staff have put in.
“It is about everybody’s efforts not just mine.”
