More than 40 Stockport and High Peak businesses attended a free Facebook for Business workshop to find out how this social network can improve customer relations and win new business.
The workshop has been organised by New Mills financial planners, Freedom Financial Planning after they discovered how Facebook could help their business. Director Andy Nevett explained how they got started.
“I used to think Facebook was just for teenagers but when I started to see big businesses advertise their Facebook pages all over the place I thought I should find out more,” he said.
Facebook now has more than 30 million users in the UK, 11 million of whom are aged over 40. Businesses can set up a Facebook page where they can inform customers of news, events and offers. Some businesses are now using Facebook as a customer service channel to respond to enquiries.
“I was very pleased with the support the event attracted. All the businesses who attended said they would now be including Facebook in their marketing efforts,” added Andy.
The speaker was Facebook marketing expert Peter Lisney from Business Pathfinder based in Shropshire. Peter recently delivered a similar seminar to a World congress of accountants in Istanbul and has trained more than a thousand business owners across the UK on the subject.
