YOUR county needs you – that’s the message to local businesses by Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
The club, which achieved promotion to the LV= County Championship First Division in September, is calling for support from the business community as it looks forward to the challenge of First Class cricket, and has set a target of £250,000 of incremental revenue.
With key squad members committed to long-term contracts, the recruitment of a world-class overseas player remains a priority for Karl Krikken’s men.
The additional revenue will also help maximise pre-season preparations, specialist coaching and cricket development programmes in the community.
Chairman Chris Grant, who has already pledged substantial personal financial support to the cause, said: “Next season will be exciting and challenging; exciting because an even higher quality of cricket will be on offer and challenging to ensure that top level cricket is sustainable. We, therefore, recognise the need to invest further in our squad of players.
“We’ve developed a series of partnership opportunities which will enable local businesses to share in our success by extracting brand exposure and excellent networking opportunities.
“My message, therefore, to local businesses is simple; your county needs you. Please take a fresh look at our commercial offering, support us in 2013 and together let’s make Derbyshire proud.”
Marketing Derby Bondholders are already answering the call and former Derbyshire all-rounder Jake Needham has been employed to manage business and community partnerships moving forward. The club will also engage with local companies to create the newly-formed 1870 Business Club.
