Could Buxton get free wifi?

Vision Buxton is investigating how to bring free wifi for locals and visitors across the town centre.

The organisation has set up a working group to find out what is needed to provide the service, which is seen as vital to make Buxton a 21st Century tourist town.

As well as giving the public free access to the internet, a dedicated town wifi would also be used to transmit up-to-date information and special offers via users’ phones and tablets, as well as gathering useful marketing information.

Other items reported at Vision Buxton’s Marketing Group meeting held on October 8 were: a successful range of tourist souvenirs launched in conjunction with Buxton Town Team and meetings with UK tour group organisers are being planned.
