A PEAK District farm butchery has landed a top gong for its Olympic-themed banger.

Stanedge Grange Butchery at Newhaven, near Buxton, won the Iconic Sausages category in the North West regional heat of British Sausage Week’s coveted national banger contest.

The region’s top porkers were put through their paces during a cook-off in Manchester last week.

And Stanedge Grange wowed competition judge Al Murray ‘The Pub Landlord’ with their Olympic Breakfast Pork Sausage - a full-flavoured hand mixed sausage described as being “made with passion and knowledge by the master butcher, constantly innovating like the Olympic athletes.”

Glossop butchers J W Mettrick & Son Ltd won the Stand Up for British Bangers category and was also crowned overall North West winner for its Manchester Sausage.
