Businesses with a passion for the Peak District are among the latest recipients of the prestigious Environmental Quality Mark (EQM).
Buxton Civic Association, Discover Buxton and Wayahead Training picked up the coveted prize during a dinner at Thornbridge Hall last week to mark the tenth anniversary of the scheme.
The EQM is presented by the Peak District National Park Authority to organisations which support the local economy, protect and enhance the environment, invest in people and communities and celebrate what’s special about the area.
Mike Monaghan, director with responsibility for environmental policy at Buxton Civic Association, said: “It is recognition for the tremendous work that the board and the staff at the Civic Association and Poole’s Cavern have put in over the past six years to develop the business in an environmentally sustainable way.
“As well as work to improve the woods as an amenity for local people and visitors, we have concentrated on reducing our energy consumption and using local suppliers in our cafe.”
