Apprenticeship Day is just the job for youngsters

MORE than 60 Gamesley youngsters showed just how keen they are to find work when they attended an apprenticeships awareness day.

The event was organised by High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council and was part paid for by the Member Initiative Funds of Gamesley councillor Anthony McKeown, HPBC’s executive councillor for community services and Hadfield South councillor Bob McKeown.

Cllr Anthony McKeown said: “The room was packed, showing just how keen young people are to find work.”

Now, Connexions and Next Step are to follow up on the event by offering a series of one-to-one appointments to young people and adults wanting to improve their online apprenticeship profile, discuss career options or find vacancies.

The sessions will take place in Gamesley Community Centre on Wednesdays from 11am to 12.30pm.

Alternatively, similar surgeries take place at Pure Vibes Youth Centre, Whitfield every Monday, from 10am to 1pm; Tuesday, 10am to 4.30pm; and Thursday, 12 noon to 4pm. For details, call Connexions on 0800 100 900.
