Burglars steal cash from Poppy appeal

MONEY donated to the annual Poppy Appeal has been stolen during a burglary at a village pub.

Thieves broke into the Bull’s Head on Church Street, Monyash, sometime between midnight and 8.30am on Tuesday, November 6.

They gained access to the pub via the beer cellar and stole numerous bottles of spirits and a large quantity of cigarettes.

Access was then gained to the bar area of the public house from where they stole the money from the charity collecting boxes. One was collecting money for a cancer charity while the other was raising funds for the annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact police on 101, the non-emergency number, of Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
