A first aid professional is appealing for premises so that she can run free courses in life-saving techniques for sports clubs following a series of high-profile tragedies involving youngsters.
Brenda Stafford, Managing Director of Buxton-based Kiss of Life Ltd, wants to increase knowledge and expertise among amateur hockey, cricket clubs, football, and rugby clubs and any other organisation which involves physical exercise.
Brenda’s idea was prompted by the recent death of 16-year-old Buxworth football star Ben Obiora; Fabrice Muamba’s brush with a heart attack and several other incidents in which extremely fit young people have been taken seriously ill or died while playing their sport.
She wants to run three-hour sessions on Saturday mornings looking at CPR, recovery position and shock and will give her time for nothing –but needs someone who will donate a room, or the cost of room, so that the courses can be free of charge.
“I want to get the message out to as many people as I possibly can,” said Brenda.
“It is not just coaches, but players as well so they have always got somebody there who is able to do something.”
