A DERBYSHIRE charity has been bowled over by a donation of £720 from Bradwell Bowls Club.

The money was collected during the Hope Valley club’s charity day, when it invites 32 pairs from clubs around the area to go along and play.

Each year, money raised through this competition, along with the sale of refreshments prepared free of charge by lady members, a raffle and other games, is donated to a charity nominated by the previous year’s winners.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance is the recipient in 2012, chosen by Richard and Marge Evans.

Vic Poke, Vice Chairman of Bradwell Bowls Club, was delighted with the amount raised: “We have managed to raise over £700 for the last three years, and over the past ten years we have raised nearly £5,000 for local good causes.”
