BUXTON Wells Dressing Festival Committee has been given a boost thanks to a local councillor.

Derbyshire County Councillor Robin Baldry, who represents the Buxton West ward, donated £384 from his community leadership fund to the committee.

The money will be used to pay for 12 road closure signs to be used for traffic control during Buxton’s annual carnival, which takes place on Saturday, July 16.

Many roads in Buxton are closed to allow the parade to make its way through the town safely and some remain closed several hours later while people enjoy the traditional Market Place fair and other activities.
