The class of 1974 met up again for the first time in 41 years.

Former students of New Mills grammar School were reunited over the weekend.

The event was organised by Gary Evans, 57 and he said it was a great success.

“People had been talking about meeting up for some time now but no one had done anything, so I set up a Facebook group and it just went from there.”

There were 50 people came from far and wide to catch up with old faces, with one classmate flying in for the reunion - which was held at the school - from America to be there on Saturday, September 26.

Gary added: “Some faces hadn’t changed at all, others had but it was great to see everyone again and old friendships have been rekindled which is nice.”

Over £170 was raised on the night, £50 going to an ex-pupil who is running a marathon in aid of Parkinson UK and the rest went back to the school.
