Timetable changes for High Peak Buses will see a new service for the school run but some routes will now stop before 6pm.
High Peak Buses, which is run by Centre Bus, will be bringing in a new timetable on Sunday, September 4.
It will be good news for some school pupils as the 68 from Glossop to Buxton will have a new service for St Thomas More School.
A spokesman for High Peak Buses said: “We’ve listened to customer feedback and we will be introducing a new school service.”
The new service which calls at Hayfield, New Mills, Chinley, Chapel and Peak Dale will now leave Henry Street in Glossop at 7.24am.
It will arrive at St Anne’s RC School at 8.33am, St Thomas More School at 8.35am and will terminate at Sylvan Park, Buxton at 8.40am.
There will also be a school service going back to Glossop which will leave Sylvan Park at 3.15pm, St Anne’s at 3.20pm and St Thomas More at 3.23pm.
More services are being added to the Skyline 199 service to better serve schools in Buxton.
The company spokesman said: “Following customer feedback we will be making changes to the morning timetable to better aid customers travelling to Buxton schools.”
However for those who live in Fairfield the news is not that good. Also from September 4 the last 185/186 service into Buxton will be 5.53pm, losing the later 6.30pm service on weekdays in addition to a revised morning timetable.
High Peak Buses said: “Following a review of passenger numbers on our 185/186 services, we have made changes to ensure that they are commercially viable.”
Other services affected include the Transpeak service from Derby, to Bakewell, Buxton and Manchester. The 8.40am journey from Buxton to Derby will operate 10 minutes later throughout the journey. The rest of the Transpeak timetable remains unchanged.
For the 61 between Buxton and Glossop there will be an additional journey on weekdays between Glossop and Hayfield at 7.20pm.
The 62 between Hayfield, New Mills and Marple will operate to a revised timetable in the afternoons.
These timetable changes come just months after Derbyshire County Council announced there would be cutbacks to some of the subsidised services across the borough, including some evening and Sunday journeys on the 61 skyline 199 and Transpeak.
