The 2011 Great Kinder Beer Barrel Challenge looks set to be one of the most competitive yet with 11 teams of eight runners taking on the challenge on September 10.
Starting at Snake Inn at 12.30pm, the teams will scale the heights of Kinder Scout, and cover three miles of the boggy terrain, with the aim of delivering safely a full beer barrel to the finish line in Edale village.
Event Chairman, Mike Wolstenholme is thrilled at the interest in this year’s challenge: “For the second year running we have a full entry of eleven teams, all gluttons for punishment, that’s for sure, but definitely with a sense of purpose.”
Mike is also grateful for the participation of this year’s sponsors Peak Ales and Bradfield Brewery who have donated the prizes.
Through sponsorship and fundraising, the organisers will be looking to raise funds for local charities.
To see the teams finish, be in Edale village square at around 1.30pm.
There will also be a barbeque, and fundraising gift stalls at Edale Village Hall.
The afternoon events will be followed by an evening of entertainment with great bands, including Stinger and the Hope Valley College Big Band.
