Permission has been granted to convert the former Green Man Gallery in Buxton into a bar and restaurant.

High Peak Borough Council have approved an application by Fraser Bloor to change the use of the former High Street gallery. It is estimated that the new business will create two full-time and three part-time jobs.

The Green Man Gallery moved out of the premises in August and is now located at the former Royal British Legion headquarters at Hardwick Hall.

A heritage statement accompanying the application states: “Buxton is a well known and visited spa town set at the edge of the Peak District national park, attracting a large number of tourists to the area.

“The clear vision for this establishment is to promote the local cuisine and locally sourced ingredients which reflect Buxton and the High Peak area.

“The applicants are a young family who have always been residents in Buxton.

“Living within the community, they have identified a need for such a local venue which would add to the local area and also to the local community and the current business establishments around High Street.”
