A packed New Mills Town Hall was treated to a concert by New Mills Band and Chapel Male Voice Choir on Saturday September 21 as part of the New Mills Community Festival. The compere for the band was Philip Kendall, while Edward Green from the choir added to the entertainment with his very amusing stories.

Chapel-en-le-Frith Male Voice Choir, under the direction of their assistant conductor Peter Mayo and accompanied by Anne May, sang songs ranging from Welsh hymn tunes to traditional English tunes. Martin Mullis was the soloist.

The band, under their new Musical Director Matt Krening, played music from the classics to musicals.

The concert ended with rousing choruses from The Last Night of the Proms.
