A MAJOR musical event in Buxton received a boost thanks to the generosity of a local councillor.

Derbyshire county councillor for the Buxton North and East Ward, Pam Reddy, donated £500 from the Members’ Community Leadership Fund towards the cost of the recent Buxton Military Tattoo.

Held at the Devonshire Dome during the Buxton Festival Fringe last month, the sell-out event supported ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which helps members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

Cllr Reddy, who described this year’s show as “fantastic”, said: “It is for such a worthwhile cause. My nephew is in the Army and recently came back from serving in Afghanistan, so the charity is something that is close to my own heart.”

Also receiving money from the Community Leadership Fund was Harpur Hill Primary School, who have been presented with £250 to help increase the range of sports on offer at their multi-use games area (Muga).

Cllr Reddy added: “It is an invaluable facility as a lot of Harpur Hill children make use of this fantastic sports area.”
