Artist set to capture Ashes

A Whaley Bridge artist has been commissioned by Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) as their official artist capturing this year’s Investec Ashes Series.

The club’s multi-million pound redevelopment at Emirates Old Trafford is among the five UK venues to host this year’s Ashes and Rob Wilson, who is also a member of the prestigious Peak District Artisans, has been invited to produce a range of commemorative paintings to celebrate the historic event.

Capturing the series, Rob will be overlooking the ground based in the state-of-the-art Players and Media Centre from where he will capture the feverish atmosphere in his paintings as the Test unfolds.

Rob said: “I am delighted to be invited to capture this momentous event.

“It’s great to be working with the team at LCCC and already I’m thoroughly enjoying working on this project.”

The original series, which will be signed by the players, will be exhibited at the ground during the third Test, which starts at Emirates Old Trafford on August 1.

The exhibition will also be on display and available to buy from Manchester’s Contemporary Six- The Gallery from August 15.

Rob will also exhibit his work at this year’s Peak District Art Fair in July.
