The BBC’s Antiques Roadshow turned the spotlight on one of New Mills’ treasured World War One artefacts during its recent filming at Lyme Park in Disley.

New Mills Heritage Centre curators Linda Whitaker, Maureen Hall and Nicky Burgess were invited by the programme to take along the museum’s wartime Torr Top Tunnel trench sign.

They were accompanied by resident Colin Gray and his grandfather’s letters and service papers which have been carefully kept by the family for 100 years.

The trench sign is now back on display at the Rock Mill Lane heritage centre.
