A number of amendments to the planning permission granted to convert Buxton’s Crescent into a five-star spa hotel have been approved by councillors.

The scheme was initially approved in 2006, renewed in 2010 and amended in 2011 and developer Trevor Osborne then applied to make a number of further amendments which were approved at a meeting of High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee.

Alterations include: upgrading of existing and insertion of new dormer windows to front and rear roof slope; re-slating of the pitched roof and removal of the lime ash flooring in its entirety through the attic floors with replacement floor.

Cllr John Faulkner said: “The loss of the lime ash floor and the trusses are regrettable but in reality we’ve got to compromise in order to get a decent use out of the building.”
