PROVING they have a head for heights were a group of fundraisers who have raised more than £2,000 for the New Mills and District Volunteer Centre.

A total of 19 volunteers, including MEP Emma McClarkin, High Peak MP Andrew Bingham, High Peak Mayor David Lomax and New Mills town and borough councillor Tony Ashton, took part in the sponsored abseil at Millers Dale on Sunday.

Ed Mountifield, from the centre, who organised the event, said: “Hopefully we will do another one next year. Everyone really enjoyed it and would like to have another go.” The event was organised with the help of Abseiling Derbyshire.
