A LONGNOR pub is the toast of Staffordshire after winning a top award.
The Black Grouse has been named Pub of the Year in the 'A Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards 2008'.
Chef and proprietor Todd Carroll was presented with a certificate and commemorative plate during a ceremony at Staffordshire Showground on Monday evening.
He told the Advertiser: "We had only planned on using this as a marketing exercise, to receive some feedback, so we were a bit shocked when we were announced as the winner.
"I think the award recognises the good food we serve, and the warm welcome and cosy atmosphere we offer to people who come here to eat and drink.
"It is also a sort of 'well-done' to everyone for their hard work."
The news comes just months after The Black Grouse received a coveted AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence.
