LATEST: Buxton councillor chosen to fight High Peak seat for Labour

CAITLIN Bisknell has been selected to run as the Labour parliamentary candidate for High Peak at the General Election later this year, it has emerged.
This afternoon, Cllr Bisknell, from Buxton, beat Lorraine Warwick, from Arlesey, Bedfordshire, in the battle to replace departing High Peak MP Tom Levitt, who will stand down at the next election, which must be held on or before June 3.

The winner was announced in Whaley Bridge, after the final stage of the selection process, the hustings, which included speeches from Cllr Bisknell and Mrs Warwick as well as a question and answer session.

High Peak Labour Party members had been voting for either Cllr Bisknell or Mrs Warwick since January 23.

Cllr Bisknell is Labour Group Leader at High Peak Borough Council, and she represents the ward of Stone Bench in Buxton.
